The Educator: I want everyone to laugh and enjoy creating in my classes. Making learning experiences memorable for students is so important to me because I hope it leads to inspiering their life long passion for fine art. I love combining a students personal creativity, with the university standards for building an artists foundation. Helping artists realize their unique self expression in a visual way is one of my most gratifying life experiences. My style of teaching is purposely flexible as to fit the uniqueness of each of my students learning styles and creative personalities. I want to give all budding artists a safe place to create and express their uniqueness with out fear or judgment. It has been a pleaser to share my love of fine art with my stunts and community.
Educating Experience: I’ve taught fine art on a profession level since 2008. I’ve worked independently, as a leading instructor, and as the director for multiple local art academies, and schools. I’ve developed and approved numerous art programs and created structured, rotating, curriculum for notable art education spaces. Within the LWSD and SVSD I’ve created many after school programs and yearlong intra-curricular art programs with a vast range of art practices, many that are in still in use today. I’ve hired and trained over a dozen fellow art instructors and hosted many art events such as birthday parties, adult painting parties, intern activities, team building events and more. What I love most is when someone comes to me with a creative dream, and then I get to use my art powers to create something special and/or a unique learning experience.
About
The Artist: I studied at Western Washington University in both the Fine Arts and Design Departments. I obtained my BFA in Fine art with a focus in mixed media and a concentration in Printmaking. I am classically trained in drawing, painting (oil, watercolor, acrylic), printmaking (lithography, relief, intaglio, mono print), fiber arts, book binding, design, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, color theory, art history and installation. My art can be mixed media in nature, pairing together nature, texture, and strong line work, but I also enjoy focusing on one media at a time, pushing my work and skills further with each new creation. I (currently) tend to work in oil paint, relief print, watercolor, and/or ink, but who knows where I’ll be in a year or so. I always try to leave room to explore unusual supplies and experimental approaches when creating. I LOVE building extra large art pieces but also enjoy the intricate detail involved with smaller prints and illustrations. Visit (and follow;) my personal Instagram @ashfinearts to see my work, the work of my students and get a glimpse into my life, I have a very cute dog, and husband ;).
